Exploring Earth

Humans have now explored most of the current surface of our 4.55B year old planet Earth, though changes and remote areas still compel new exploration.  Other than to discover and exploit consumable natural resources, humans have yet to explore any appreciable amount of Earth's voluminous solid interior or subsurface reservoirs.

Robotics and technology advances are helping increase solid Earth exploration, though over 99% of Earth's interior remains to be newly explored.
